1. Prevent it! Stress has a way of presenting itself when it's wanted the least! I find that one of the best ways to keep this from happening is to be proactive in your activities. I've definitely worried about assignments I had to do last minute, but i've never been too worried about something that i've started on early. The key here is to be a good time manager and not waste your own time. This in itself is another very important skill that could have it's own post. We all know we'd feel better with assignments done rather than looming over us which brings me to my next point.
2. Just do it! Remember how I said stress could lock you up and muddy your mind? Sometimes it does just this and can cause an agonizing case of paralysis. I've stared at a big assignment quite bewildered at what was in front of me before. The best way for me to get past these problems is to just get started! Even if it feels like you aren't positive of what you're doing, getting started is much better than thinking aimlessly about what you could do. You can always go back and modify what you've done and I guarantee that you'll feel better with a mostly done assignment!
3. Take a break! Believe it or not you might get more done this way! If you're building yourself into a frenzy over something then you probably aren't performing optimally! Sometimes taking some time away from what is causing your trouble and coming back when you've gathered yourself is the best option. Like I said before, stress can destroy your mindset and keep you from coming up with the answers you need. So, take a break and do something that relaxes you! Watch a show you like, exercise some, take some photos, play some music, or take a drive. Anything that brings you into a better mindset will work! I personally believe that personal development is a good way to spend some of this time. Read a book, meditate, or read articles that interest you! Personal development will likely help you defeat stress in a more overarching way as well. That's another topic that could use a blog post of it's own!
I'm sure that many of you have your own methods of stress release as well! Try something you know about! There are many articles on the internet about stress relief that could help too. Hopefully these tips will help you keep stress at bay when it rears it's ugly head!
